Back in the day, shelves were used for storing books. Nowadays they are used for so much more, especially in kids’ rooms!

We have noticed a big trend for decorative shelves recently… Use them to show off favourite toys or to store little treasures and objects that add a touch of fun and character to your little one’s walls. And the best part? You and your child can enjoy changing them around as often as you like to create a totally different look! So, today we are sharing our top five wooden shelves for kids.

This beautiful wooden mountain shelf (above) is made in France using beech plywood by our new discovery, Mum and Dad Factory. Perfect for polar bears (or any bear for that matter), it will provide a home for all those little toys that are too nice to stash away in the toy box.

Next, this lovely little Cloud Shelf by UK brand Happy Little Folks has been carefully made to create a shelter for all those precious treasures. Is it a dolls house or a shelf? Well, we think it’s perfect as either:

Speaking of dolls houses, we adore this brand new addition by Australian brand One Two Tree. The Treasure Board Play House is both a dolls house and a shelf, all rolled into one:

Let the toys have their fun in this fabulous wooden bi-plane shelf by Upwarsaw (below). Made from birch plywood, it comes complete with a cock pit for the pilot together with enough space for all the passengers and the luggage on board!

And last but not least, these pretty wooden teepee shelves from Australian brand Ah Ah are some of the nicest we have seen! Crafted in pine, they look stunning on the wall or bedside table, filled with little toys or decorated with bunting:

So if you’re considering a room refresh, think about getting a shelf! Practical, fun and stylish, they can be dressed up in so many ways – and your child will enjoy decorating them as much as you will.
