We can’t believe that Christmas is coming so soon! And with Christmas comes lots of opportunity for crafts for the whole family.

One of our favourite Christmas crafts is DIY advent calendars. You can, of course, buy one but it’s always so nice to make your own. And besides, counting down to Christmas with little daily treats is so exciting, especially if you’re a kid.

We are loving the mail advent calendar pictured at the top.  What a sweet idea. Each little present is designed to look like a mini package from the North Pole.  Any kid would be super excited with this advent calendar and luckily it’s not difficult to put together.  You could even put these through the letter box each day in the lead up to Christmas to delight your kids even further.

To inspire you, we’ve got gathered some more of our favourite DIY advent calendars ideas:

How colourful and fun is this Christmas lights advent calendar?  The bulbs are made of paper and can be filled with little treats and gifts and you not only have an advent calendar but also a gorgeous Christmas decoration. This DIY calendar comes with free printable templates so it shouldn’t be too tricky to make.

This mini reindeer advent calendar is the cutest! We’re loving the idea of Santa’s reindeer’s pulling the little packages through the snow to bring them to your kids. These packages contain little notes with advent activities that you can do as a family, so for those who don’t want to give out daily treats, this could be the idea for you.

This is a great idea for an advent calendar if you’re short on time or if you’ve left it to the last minute. Gather any little boxes, envelopes, cloth bags you have lying around, fill them with goodies and hang them all on a branch.  The finished look is playful and fun and looks like you put a lot more effort into it!

Here is another fun idea for an advent calendar. This modern tree calendar is colourful and festive and the best part is that you can print out the triangle templates, fill with whatever you like and you’re done.  These would look great hanging on the Christmas tree as ornaments.

This house advent calendar is not only fun but very easy to make. If you wanted to make it even more personal, why not decorate the house boxes with your kids before filling them with goodies?

Last, we have this adorable Santa and the elves DIY advent calendar.  We love the idea of painting the cones with the kids and then hiding little gifts under them.

Which advent calendar will you make this Christmas?
