The Sant Joan de Déu Hospital’s emergency room- located in Barcelona- is an animals’ hidden place where tigers, jelly fish, flamingos and elephants appear in all the rooms. The creators of this special zoo are Rai Pinto and Dani Rubio who have been able to humanize the space and adapt it to children’s needs.
There are 100 animals across the different spaces, they create a continuous visual effect plenty of colourful repetitions and different dimensions. The animal figures are scaled to get a childish atmosphere. According to experts, this is something really important to take care of patients, especially if they are children.
Signs are also adapted to kids. The designers have chosen representative fonts and shapes and have used the same variety of colours to guide and organize the space.
The whole emergency room can be identified just taking a look to its artistic expressions which create a friendly space for both children and their families.
