How teach kids to deal with their emotions? How to talk children about feelings? It is not an easy task. We can approach them through play and art and learn together how they feel in some situations as well as help them understand other people’s feelings.

Today I show some activities and a great book. Hope you enjoy them!

Look into my eyes by Bruno Munari (1969)

This book / game is a collection of loose pages, each one a drawing of a different kind of face; with holes for the eyes and mouth. Munari invite us to play with faces, eyes and the different ways of seeing things: “They can be put into small groups to change the colour of the eyes…mix up drawings, change the colour of the eyes, help us to see things through other people’s eyes…”.

Devine mon sentiment by Atelier pour enfants

Inspired by Munari’s book, Atelier pour enfants creates a great workshop for kids. The children compose portraits / masks with different expressions. Behind such masks, they write words about their characters’ feelings. They could play by asking family or friends what express these characters.
