I am a huge fan of Hipopotam Studio and their books. It was founded by Aleksandra Mizielińska and Daniel Mizieliński, a married couple and a duo of graphic artists. They are authors of internationally recognized children’s books, I’m sure you remember the stunning Welcome to Mamoko or Maps, but they are also creators of fonts, applications and websites.
Their style is colourful and vibrant and their drawings show dozens of characters and objects engaged in various narrations. They take care about the finest detail and the result is fun, beautiful and high quality illustrations.
Today I bring you Mamoko na Miasteczko (Have an eye on Mamoko), a cute book-game about Mamoko published in Poland by Wydawnictwo Dwie Siostry. It’s a set of 25 double-faced cards which can be arranged in many different ways.
These cards allow you to build your own little town and search for your favorite characters and hidden objects. Do you recognize all of the movie posters?
On some pages, you can solve a crime mystery. Do you see the thief who is escaping?
Streets always fit together. Street on each side of each card match to any other card (you only can’t turn the card upside down).
I love discovering a kaleidoscope of stories packed into every card. Shall we go to visit Mamoko?
