I’ve been blogging for quite a few years now and although the online landscape has changed considerably since I first dipped my toes into the virtual world in 2009, I am still following a small number of favourite creatives. One of these people is Ana Maraž, the talented illustrator behind the blog Talking To Volcano.
I love Ana’s illustrations and was pleased to see that she was now working with children running kids’ art workshops. She is mum herself, and I’m sure her son is one of her biggest sources of inspiration. Ana recently began collaborating with the stylish, Slovenian online store Ooh Noo, and I think that her debut contribution Little Vixen is gorgeous (see top image). Printed on both sides, this graphic, decorative pillow doubles up as a cuddly toy and would be a perfect fit in any modern, minimalist home.
Ooh Noo carry an ever-growing selection of children’s bedding, throws, pillows, moccasins and toys. I love the fresh look of their Geometric Web and Wicked Owl duvets in particular.
From what I’ve seen so far, Ooh Noo really shine in the toy department. Their fun Mister Crocodile Stick has just won a prestigious Red Dot Design award, and is one of several similar characters (there’s a sheep, a horse and a snail). A modern take on the traditional ‘hobby horse’, these creatures have wheels and can be customized / decorated with chalk.
Other notable playthings include a brand new Cardboard Robot and Googy Rocking House (which also won a Red Dot Design Award in 2012).
Ooh Noo is definitely one to watch. I am impressed with their well-curated offering and by the fact everything is handmade by a small, close-knit team. Of course, you can follow them on the usual social networks (facebook, instagram, pinterest, blog). I for one am looking forward to seeing how this little shop develops in the future and what Ana will create next!
